Kappa Delta Philanthropy

Kappa Deltas are inspired to act. Kappa Delta makes a difference not only in its members’ lives, but also in the lives of women and children around the world. We take great pride in our efforts to strengthen community service initiatives that build confidence in those around us.

HELPING BUILD GIRLS OF COURAGE, CONFIDENCE AND CHARACTER.

In 1998, Kappa Delta Sorority welcomed Girl Scouts of the USA as one of its national philanthropies. Through this incredible partnership, Kappa Delta members make a difference with more than 14,000 girls each year across the country. Kappa Delta is proud to help Girl Scouts “build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.” Kappa Deltas serve as mentors and volunteers, reinforcing our common values of honesty, integrity, friendship and leadership. Collegiate and alumnae chapters host confidence-building programs, educational events, campus tours and other activities with Girl Scouts in their communities.

HELP PREVENT CHILD ABUSE.

Since 1981, Kappa Delta has been a proud supporter of Prevent Child Abuse America, an organization founded by the late Donna Stone, one of our own Kappa Delta sisters. To date, Kappa Delta has donated more than $35 million to prevent child abuse in our country. Thousands of KDs in hundreds of communities nationwide host Shamrock events every year to raise money for national and local child abuse prevention efforts. Kappa Delta is committed to helping strengthen families and improving the lives of children because there’s nothing that destroys a child’s confidence more than abuse.

Eta Phi Philanthropy

Kappa Delta is the only sorority to have two national philanthropies; The Girl Scouts and Prevent Child Abuse America. In supporting both organizations we work to instill confidence in young women, a core value of KD. Our Eta Phi chapter supports the greater Boston community by serving as mentors for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts to promote our values of leadership skills, confidence, and courage. In addition to organizing cookie sales, we have crafted confidence workshops, where our sisters show the girls that confidence and the power of friendship builds resilience to face life's challenges. Our second philanthropy is Prevent Child Abuse America, where our events raise a majority of the proceeds to our local community organization, MassKIDS, and the rest to the national organization. To fundraise we host our biannual KD Kicks and Shamrock events, by including the Boston University community to participate. MassKIDS helps to support and advocate for children facing abuse, and aligns with KD’s belief that a solid support system is imperative for children to grow up to be confident and happy adults. Not only is KD making a difference but we're fostering a passion for giving to others, and inspiring that passion in those around us.
